"A person employed to protect people, property, and assets, against hazards, intruders or damage."
A Security Guard is a highly-trained individual that is hired to protect an organization's assets from a variety of hazards by using preventative measures. Assets come in many forms such as property, people, equipment, money, merchandise, and any other object which can be physically guarded. Similarly, hazards come in many shapes and sizes including vandalism, theft, assault, flammable materials, damaged property, unsafe worker behaviour, and various criminal activities. Security Guards accomplish a state of protection by keeping a close watch over their territory and maintaining a high-visibility presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions. Further, they observe and report any signs of crime, fire, or disorder, and then take actions to minimize damages and cut off the source. Security Guards maintain a high-visibility presence either directly, through patrols, or by watching Alarm Systems or Video Surveillance. While doing such, they will warn and escort trespassers off property, and immediately report incidents to emergency authorities and SecuriWORLD management, as well as update the client immediately or on a weekly basis, as per request.
